Close to Oslo’s Gardermoen airport lies a recreational area with a forest and the lake Nordbytjernet where you can take a lovely walk.
We left a scorching hot Italy with a suitcase full of winter clothes on our way to our expedition cruise around Spitsbergen, only to end up in Oslo in the middle of the Norwegian summer.
We had already visited Oslo last year and did not want to wear ourselves out by making the trip to the city and decided to stay at the hotel near the airport.
The hotel at which Hurtigruten had booked us turned out to be within walking distance of a recreational area with a forest and the lake Nordbytjernet. After we checked in, we walked over there and spent a lovely afternoon. It was well over 20°C and the Norwegians were enjoying the beautiful weather and people were strolling and swimming.
There were even beavers living there!
